ATU Animated Christmas Card
A project creating during my time studying animation at the Atlantic Technological University in Ireland. We were assigned the creation of a short animation destined to be used by the university as a "Christmas Card", a celebratory video that would leave an impression and give the university's image some more character.
I aimed for a minimalist animation and visual+sound design, which adds some charm to the identity of ATU while still maintaining consistency with their branding.
Final loopable animation
Started by analyzing the university's logo and its components. I wanted to focus on the visual identity of ATU and design all the assets around it. I ended up landing on turning the logo into a reindeer head and sketched an early design.
Storyboard of what the animation would look liike. It uses the transformation of the logo into the reindeer as its centerpoint, with all other motions being relatively fast.
Assets created out of bits and pieces of the ATU logo. The reindeer's pieces are kept separate for it to work as a rig within After Effects.
